Ola Amigos!

Currently, I am sitting drinking this marvelous coconut rum smoothie made from fruit we soaked in rum and then froze. Probably one of the best ideas ever. Thanks Dom. Where did we get this rum that literally came in a coconut shell? Wellllll, today we went shopping and the Russian salesman at the liquor store felt we should try several types of rum, which resulted in a slight buzz, but hey, we’re on vacation, right?

Punta Cana itself is beautiful. Very sunny, great weather and a nice breeze so no one is forced to sweat out their entire body weight in water. It’s great. We have spent a lot of time just sitting on the beach. The water is warm and the people are pretty entertaining. If you have heard the ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’ song by LMFAO, please picture this man in his speedo walking to it. Then imagine your day including several episodes of similar events. That is entertainment.

We have thoroughly been enjoying the beach.  Dom took Maggie and I snorkeling for the first time ever yesterday. At first, we drowned a little, but once we figured out how to breathe with a snorkel it was amazing. We could see many fish just chillin’ in their natural habitats. Dom even saw a sea turtle!

Our resort has a pool bar, which looks amazing but we haven’t tried it yet. I don’t think Edward (the bartender) has had any customers for the past 2 days. I WILL be utilizing his bar eventually.

Spanish has proven to be somewhat of a barrier, but thanks to Michelle (Maggie’s friend) we are communicating well and learning some useful words. Thank goodness for her because I keep trying to respond in French and Dom keeps speaking Bislamic. Doesn’t work.  Main trouble? We have been saying ‘no able Espagnol’, which apparently means, ‘you don’t speak Spanish’, not  ‘I don’t speak Spanish’. However, smiling at the Spanish boys is also effective J

Tonight, dinner is in store at a seafood restaurant, which also serves entire pigs. (Potential adventure in the future??) Dad arrives tomorrow evening, so until then, adios!!

Our porch. Gorgeous. We even have a grill. And the beach just a few feet away.

Snorkeling snapshots

Our lovely lunch-- homemade tortillas and beans, mango, papaya and yucca (a cross between what tastes like a yam and cornmeal)
Making tortillas!!

Me, Mag and Dom on a rock near the resort.

Maggie's attempt to stand on her raft.

Last flight. Out.

Finally arrived in Punta Cana!

Sister love :)

I apologize for the sideways photos. I will try to do better next time.
